Wine and whales

I’ve been blogging in the not-just-love department lately, so I thought I’d share a couple of those posts. First, my mulled wine guide:

Spicy!

The main components of a good mulling spice are cloves, cinnamon, orange peel, and allspice. I’ve also seen blends that include ginger, nutmeg, lemon peel, black peppercorns, and star anise, and I’ve actually tried mulling with a chai spice blend that also included cardamom pods. (Not totally worth it, in my opinion, but you might like it.) I also enjoy the odd vanilla bean husk, but you shouldn’t waste actual vanilla bean caviar on this…

Second, I went on kind of a funny design analysis tangent about this wonderful toy narwhal my dad made me as a kid:

I absolutely treasure my adorable little narwhal model now, and I’ve had it on display in every home I’ve lived in as an adult… But let’s put on our Design Hats break down where we went wrong if this had been an official modern adult design transaction… I wanted some very specific elements to be included, like paint and functional motion, but I didn’t specify them, and my dad as a non-designer didn’t know how to ask questions that would draw out a complete spec. He worked with the vague picture I painted and he created a mental picture from scratch based on my youthful ramblings.

Feel free to peruse those not-so-Heartographer posts if you like. 🙂 Hope you all had a great weekend; I’ve got some REALLY FUN STUFF coming up soon to announce! Make sure you’re on the newsletter if you haven’t subscribed yet, so you’ll be the first to know and RSVP to so potentially awesome online dating events. [icon-heart]
